The end

Since I left school, I forgot a little how to write correctly in English, y can hear a conversation and speak but writing is kind of a problem, I have to practice constantly but university takes my entire life jaja, so, at the end of this course, I can say that writing in the blog was a very good way to practice, I didn’t wrote all of the posts, but I will do it before the real end. I didn’t dislike something about this; the thing was that I couldn’t come to class every Thursday, which was the complication.

The post that I enjoyed the most was the one of movies, because I don’t have the routine of watching them very often, so, reading recommendations of my classmates piqued my curiosity. The post that I didn’t like because it was a topic that I don’t feel very interested of, was the one of the website, I had to think more than usual to write something jajaja

I enjoyed reading Francisca Cousiño’s blog, because she posted pictures with her comments and the way she wrote didn’t make you feel bored. But I also liked Daniela Moder’s blog and Angelica’s; actually, I think that Angelica has the most attractive blog, she wrote about things that were new for me, like the Korean bakery or tumblr, so it was a good input.

I think that know how to write or speak English it’s a very important tool, in my case, a lot of important arquitecture books are in English, so, writing, reading and comment was a very good thing for me. Now, I hope you have success in the exams and have good vacations!

A website

I don’t visit a lot of websites, I just use the computer when I need something specific, for the university or I don’t know, to google something, but if I have a little of free time, I like to watch TV series or movies and in that kind of cases, I know that I can watch them at www.cuevana2.tv.

I don’t remember the first time I visited it, but when I discovered that I could watch things that I missed on TV, I used to saw them at www.peliculasid.com, but I never liked the quality of the website, it seemed that the movies where recorded on the cinema and you could hear people laughing or heads hahaha, anyway, one of my best friends told me that I could watch any movie or television series I want in cuevana and of course I followed her recommendation.

Before the police discovered the website provider, the original website was just cuevana, you could see the premieres or classic movies or child movies, anything you want, and every series I wanted to, it was just fantastic and you could see all chapters because the website had all the seasons of the series. Now, the website has another provider and it’s slower than before, but it works too.

The good thing about this is that everyone can visit it and you have movies or series for EVERYONE and if you don’t like to watch them in English, you can choose Spanish or subtitles, the bad thing is that you have to wait, sometimes a lot and sometimes just five minutes (or sometimes the movie is not available) but it’s free and you have a lot of possibilities.

Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain

There is one movie that i can watch over and over without feeling bored, and that movie is “Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain”.

I don’t remember the exact time I saw it, because I have seen it many times, but I know that I saw it when I was studying at school, I’ve always wanted to learn French, because I think it a very beautiful language, I think that’s the reason that I like it so much. Of course, the language is not the only thing I like, the places where the film was filmed are beautiful, the colors, and the music! A famous compositor did the music especially for this movie; his name is Yann Tiersen a French musician and compositor. He and the main actress of the movie, Audrey Tautou achieved global fame with the film.

The film is a romantic comedy that shows you the life of Amelie, a young waitress who decides to change her life the same day that Lady Di died. That day she also discovered a little box hidden in her bathroom, containing pictures and toys that a child hid forty years ago. She decided to seek this man and deliver the box. When she finally found him, she saw that the man was very moved, so she decided to dedicate her life to helping others with simple gestures. “Elle va changer ta vie”, she’s going to change her life. In the film we can see lot of different situations, there are two of them that i like a lot, Amelie have a neighbor, an old man that is a painter and he can’t have a normal life because his bones are very fragile, so she started to send him short clips of different things that were happening around the world, that’s her way to show him the world. The other situation that I like is about her father, he widowed when she was little and she always told him to travel with the retirement money. He never took the initiative, so one day, she took an elf of his garden and gave it to one friend of her that is stewardess, her friend took pictures of the elf around the world and then she sent the pictures to Amelie and then she sent those pictures to her father, to encourage him to travel.

Some people think that this movie is very cliché, but for me it’s one of the best movies because the story is very simple, but not light and the actors (combined with the music) transmit a lot of feeling, and reminds you that we can make people happy without big things. I definitely recommend you this movie, if you like romantic movies, of course, and if you don’t like romantic stuff I can tell you that this is not the typical one!

Magical Concert

I love music, I’m always listening or singing it, it’s so relaxing, so, naturally, I love to go to concerts. At 2009, my favorite singer came to Santiago, Ismael Serrano, a Spanish solist that plays similar music to Silvio Rodríguez or Alejandro Filio, voice and guitar basically, beautiful lyrics, of course I didn’t doubt to go to his concert, it was at Movistar Arena and for my lucky, the ticket was really cheap for the ubication I wanted, like $14000 and I was literally next to him, so, you can imagine how happy I was.

I went with one friend that is a big fan of Ismael to, he told me about the concert, we went together, and we both were so excited! We were going to be practically next to him, we couldn’t wait a second.

Finally, the day came, my friend picked me at my house, and then we arrived to Movistar Arena. We went to our seating and the concert started. I never saw Ismael live before, but it was one of the best inversion I made in my life, he played for four hours and I just paid $14000, can you believe it? Four hours, he played all my favorite songs, he made jokes between every song, it was a great concert, cheap and exciting, everyone there was so happy, laughing, singing, the entire place was full of happiness, I remember that moment like something very magical.

Ismael plays a kind of music that is very quiet, I like to go to another kind of concerts to, but I really enjoyed this one, because it happens sometimes, that the singer doesn’t sing as good as they do at TV, but this time it was like being listening his cd at my bedroom, I recommend you to go, if you like music in Spanish, you will enjoy this!

Eating Out!

I have a very big family and sometimes we like to go out to eat, we are 6 people, so, we all have very different tastes of food, I love to eat fish, my dad loves to eat meat, etc., so, it’s very difficult to find a place that makes us all happy. But one restaurant that we all like, because of the food, the place, the owners, everything, is ELEMENT.

ELEMENT is a Patagonian food restaurant and the house is a typical construction of the south of Chile. It’s located in Monseñor Edwards 1636, La Reina, Santiago. is almost new, no more than four years and is one of the main streets of the district (and luckily my house is close).

One day, we were on the way home and we saw a beautiful construction of a wooden house, we didn’t know what was it, but we liked a lot. A few months later, there was a huge sign saying “opening ELEMENT”, the wooden house was a restaurant, but we do not pay much attention. The first time we went there was because one of our neighbors told us that the food there was great, so we said ok, let’s go and see what it is. we arrived there and were greeted very well, it was a good start, but then we asked for the food and I can say that ELEMENT have the best salmon dish I've ever eaten, my dad (who loves to eat meat) loves one dish called “Carne a la Sal”, and I swear I could recommend everything on the menu, you can find pasta, soup, fish, meat, vegetarian food, seafood, and everything is perfectly served.

That first time was the beginning of a "relationship", now, I think we go there at least once a month, the restaurant is a family business, and now we know the cooker, the waitresses, the receptionist, etc. It’s a very warm place and all people that works there is kind.

The last time I was there was on Tuesday night, with my family we made a farewell to an aunt who came to visit us from Denmark and she also became a lover of the place jajaja.

Family Vacation

In the summer of 2009 me and my family went to Algarrobo, one of my favorite beaches, I spent many summers of my life on that beach, with my friends from school usually, but this time was with my family and was one of the best vacation we spent together and was even more special because my little cousin Vicente was invited, we were the six members of my family (my parents, my three younger sisters) plus Vicho.

Algarrobo is not far from Santiago, it’s like an hour and a half drive, but my cousin lives in Paine, so, early that day we went to look for him at his house (which is about 45 minutes from Santiago) and then we went Algarrobo, we were more than an hour and a half in the car, but it was a nice trip.

Then we got to the apartment that my parents had rented and during this great week, we watched movies, cook different meals, played a game every night and also took advantage of the huge pool in San Alfonso, the truth is that we spend more time in the water than in the department, people says that San Alfonso’s pool it’s like the biggest pool in the world and one particularly thing that I liked was that this huge pool was next to the sea, so, you could be swimming and also watch the sea.
Anyway, these have been the best holiday I have spent with my family, was a great way to end my school years and a great way to start college.

Painted faces

In this photo I’m with two great friends, Sofia and Consuelo, we have known since we were four years old, we were in school together and even today, after leaving  the school for almost four years, we still friends.

That day, I remember I called the Sofi and said I wanted to go see her, when I gotto her home, she was painting her sister’s face with watercolor pencils, I liked how it looked so much that I also asked her to paint me, a few minutes later Consu arrived and she wanted to get her face painted too, after that, we both were painted  and we decided to paint Sofi’s face too, what we paint on our faces has no particular meaning, shapes and colors are chosen randomly.

Then, after we all had our faces painted, Sofi’s little sister took us a lot of pictures, but this one it’s my favorite, because we appear spontaneously laughing.

Besides I like the photo because it reminds me that day that I had a really good time, reminds me that summer, it was the best I've had in my life, we went together to Algarrobo beach with more friends from school and had many adventures, I remember with great affection that holiday, the people I met, the moments lived, places we visited, I’m very happy that after school, I still have contact with my friends, going on vacation with them it’s one of my favorite things…nothing spoils the memory, not even the great earthquake of February 27, 2010!

EuroTrip, meeting new people

Last year, with all the students mobilization, me and all Fau students had to take summer classes, but I didn't want to, so when my best friend told me that she wanted to go to Europe it took me like 10 seconds to say that I wanted to go with her.

We never planned our trip, we just wanted to discover interesting things while we were walking, so I remember one day, we were in Barcelona, Spain and we were very interested in all Gaudi's stuff, specifically in the famous church "Sagrada Familia", the beautiful Park Güell and the several houses that he built in the city. We didn't know anyone, so we always walked with a map (it was evident that we were foreign). We were in our way to the park and one girl stopped us, she was from Sweden and had just arrived in Barcelona to study Spanish, we talked about a few things more and then we asked her if she wanted to join us, she said yes immediately, she told us that she was very excited to be with us because she needed to practice her Spanish. The walk to the park was very nice, like the stroll and at the end of the day we went for a few beers and since then we haven't lose touch with Hannah.

I think I love that thing of travelling, because you know that you’re going to see beautiful places but you don’t know what kind of people you’re going to meet and that is very exiting.
